Welcome to Oldham Golf Club’s Ladies Section
The Ladies section at Oldham Golf club plays an integral part in the running of the club. It is a self-contained section with its own organising committee, competitive playing section and busy social calendar.
Ladies Successes 2023
LLCGA – Handicap Shield Winners: LLCGA Interclub Handicap & Bronze Finalists: LLCGA – Winner of the Frances Smith Trophy – Sheila Antrobus; MDLGA – Bell Cup Semi Finalists.
Massive congratulations to our ladies who won the Lancashire Ladies County Golf Association Handicap Shield at Ashton-under-Lyne. This is the first time Oldham have won the trophy in the 95-year history of the competition. The Shield is a match play competition in a ‘Champions League’ format, with home and away fixtures against each team in the league. The winners of each league go through to a knockout stage – firstly in the divisional finals and then, if successful, at the whole of Lancashire finals. Along the way the ladies played Saddleworth, Great Lever & Farnworth, Bolton Old Links, Bolton Lostock, Brookdale, Dean Wood and, finally, Penwortham. A very proud moment for our ‘Small but Mighty’ ladies section.
We are only a small section but extremely competent and efficient with high representation on the club’s Council. Many of our members have great experience in being Lady Captain, Lady President and long-term members of the committee, each playing a specific role.
The ladies’ main playing day is Wednesday but we also hold alternative playing days at weekends for most competitions

Ladies Teams
We are actively involved in Lancashire Ladies’ County Golf Association events and also competitions run by the Manchester & District Ladies Golf Society. These include the Bell Cup, Shield teams (both Handicap and Bronze) and the Archie Preston (Mixed) run by the Manchester & District Golf Alliance.
Social
We also welcome lady members who want to play social golf and be involved in the events and life of the Club.
